The Great Lakes Trees Initiative in Action: A Case Study of the 2025 NFL Draft

The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors & Premiers (GSGP) recently completed a case study highlighting the success of the 2025 NFL Draft Community Greening Event in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In partnership with NFL Green and Verizon, GSGP coordinated the planting of 90 trees across Oneida Nation lands and Brown County Parks, replacing trees lost to the invasive Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). The event featured participation from Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, Oneida Nation Chairman Tehassi Hill, and local volunteers, and received broad media coverage. These trees are expected to deliver long-term environmental and community benefits, including carbon capture, stormwater management, and improved air quality.

Read the case study to see how GSGP’s proven model can help your organization create meaningful, visible impact in communities across the Great Lakes region.
