Congratulations to Indiana for Planting One Million Trees
Congratulations to Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for achieving their Million Tree Initiative goal! Last Friday, GSGP’s Mike Piskur was honored to speak at the celebration at the Indiana Statehouse and help plant the ceremonial millionth tree. Indiana’s forestland was restored through this initiative by planting native black walnut and various oak trees in state parks and forests, fish and wildlife areas and nature preserves. Governor Holcomb’s leadership on this issue inspired GSGP in setting the goal of planting 250 million trees by 2033 across the Great Lakes St. Lawrence region.
